After a splendid hunt breakfast kindly hosted by Mr David Liddell-Grainger and Christine, Lady de la Rue MBH, some 30 riders made their way towards Eyemouth to start their hunt running up over Linthill where hounds checked on ground drilled the previous day. Picking the line up on a heading hounds left the field standing as they raced to Alemill bridge. The quarry had run the road here for a short distance but the hounds held the line up the road and onto the wheat before crossing the road to run through the Drill Plantation and catch their quarry at Mileknowe Plantation
The field enjoyed a short second hunt round the Polo field to take in a few jumps. The third hunt started near Hillburn and gave the field a short scurry round the lower Polo ground and by Ayton Church to catch their quarry by the South Lodge.
The final hunt started on Bstleridge to go uphill over Habchester and towards Tams Wood before swinging away over some marvelous grass onto Chester Hill before running down to Chesterbank. Hounds were really flying and caught their quarry before they could get to the planned finish. The quarry were given 5 minutes law before hounds were released again to run below Whinney Hill and catch the quarry once more by the Ayton Cocklaw road. An excellent days hunting with plenty of jumping, much of which was on the Ayton Castle Estate.
